About the Role
As part of our appointment to Scottish Water’s new Enterprise, we deliver critical projects across Scotland, including:
- Major upgrades to treatment assets
- New and enhanced water networks
- Resilience schemes, directly benefiting communities
Experience & Track Record

25+ years in the water sector MMB has consistently delivered high-impact projects supporting Scottish Water’s Regulatory Period 27 (SR27) priorities:
- Improving resilience & service reliability via treatment upgrades, network improvements, and resilience schemes
- Advancing net-zero and climate adaptation through low-carbon design and nature-based solutions
- Enabling sustainable growth through flexible infrastructure supporting new developments
- Enhancing efficiency with integrated delivery models and innovation
- Prioritising customer engagement, community impact, and safety across all projects
The Opportunity
As a Civil Engineer in the UK water sector, you’ll contribute to projects that critically shape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure. MMB offers a full spectrum of services: feasibility studies, design, construction, and commissioning to ensure uninterrupted water services and advanced wastewater treatment.

Responsibilities
Your role will include:
- Developing outline and detailed civil, hydraulic, and structural designs, including related calculations
- Creating technical and commercial specifications, including design reports and schedules
- Designing and annotating technical models and drawings
- Collaborating with commercial, operational, and construction teams to drive efficient, safe, and practical solutions throughout design, build, commissioning, and operation stages
- Integrating whole-life carbon and circular economy considerations into designs to achieve sustainable outcomes
- Conducting site and asset surveys for informed design decisions
- Coordinating technical tasks with discipline specialists (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Geotechnical, Structural) to ensure project milestones are met within budget and to the required quality
- Managing interface integration across civil design and other engineering disciplines
- Engaging directly with clients, guiding them to achieve their strategic goals through a one-team approach
Requirements
To succeed, you’ll need:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Progress towards Chartership (IEng or CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A structured, analytical approach to problem-solving
- A valid driving licence with willingness to travel across project locations
