Assystem: Civil Construction Surveillance Role – Site Engineer

Job Description

You will support construction surveillance activities across major civil engineering works onsite, focusing on:

  • Quality assurance
  • Compliance monitoring
  • Contractor performance oversight

Key Responsibilities

🏗️ Conduct construction surveillance activities across civil engineering work packages

🔍 Ensure compliance with:

  • Contract requirements
  • Project specifications
  • Applicable quality standards

📋 Identify non-conformances and:

  • Support preparation of quality reporting documentation
  • Monitor contractor performance against approved QC plans

🤝 Coordinate closely with:

  • Contractors
  • Multidisciplinary site delivery teams

📈 Contribute surveillance data to:

  • Project quality performance indicators (QPIs)

🛡️ Promote compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements onsite

📑 Review quality inspection records before permanent works are covered

⚙️ Evaluate contractor adherence to approved:

  • Quality Control Plans (QCPs)
  • Safety & compliance frameworks

🚧 Support mitigation actions to ensure:

  • Continuous construction progress
  • Maintenance of quality standards

📢 Provide timely reporting including:

  • Surveillance findings
  • Emerging project risks

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

🎓 A HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent vocational experience

🏗️ Strong understanding of:

  • Construction methods
  • Materials
  • Industry practices

📋 Experience working in large-scale construction/infrastructure projects

🔍 Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in:

  • Inspecting works and materials
  • Identifying anomalies and non-conformances

📝 Proven ability to produce:

  • Accurate, concise, and contract-specific site records

🤝 Strong communication skills and proven aptitude for building and maintaining:

  • Collaborative contractor relationships

⚡ Ability to work:

  • Independently
  • While effective within high-performing cross-functional teams

🛡️ Understanding of:

  • Quality assurance (QA) principles
  • Construction compliance frameworks

📱 Experience using electronic devices for:

  • On-site inspection
  • Reporting (e.g., tablet/CAD tablets)

Advantageous (Desirable)

📜 Knowledge of:

  • CDM Regulations and drawing approval processes

📋 Familiarity with:

  • Quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
