The Division: Water Utilities

Mott MacDonald’s leader in UK/Irish water and wastewater challenges, focused on:

  • Ensuring safe water for future generations
  • Preventing urban flooding
  • Improving river and coastal health

Key services: Water treatment, distribution, wastewater drainage/recycling, and desalination—across the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies to handover.

Client base: Most UK water utilities + governmental organizations, both domestically and internationally.


Role: Civil Engineer Specialist – Water & Wastewater

What You’ll Do

You’ll thrive in dynamic, multi-disciplinary design teams, establishing excellence in:

  • Supporting UK/Irish water companies through diverse projects
  • Drafting compliance-focused design submissions
  • Undertaking (and leading) studies, concept, and detailed design
  • Collaborating with clients/stakeholders across complex scenarios

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

✔ A degree in Civil Engineering ✔ Water/wastewater engineering design experience ✔ Strong verbal & written communication skills ✔ Commitment to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) principles ✔ Proactive, adaptable mindset

Desirable

🔹 Pursuing Chartership 🔹 Proficiency in digital tools (e.g., design software) 🔹 Experience in Project Management (bonus points if you want to develop the skill!)
