Civil Engineer
Civil Engineer – Leeds, UK

The Opportunity
Arup’s Civil Engineering team is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to sustainable, resilient, and inclusive communities across the UK within a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment.
Our work spans diverse sectors and scales:
- City centre regeneration
- Active travel and public realm improvements
- Rail and transport infrastructure
- Healthcare/education developments
- Data centres, utilities, and flood alleviation
- Residential and mixed-use schemes
We operate across the full project lifecycle—from early-stage advisory and concept development to detailed design and construction support—working with local authorities, government agencies, contractors, developers, utility providers, and transport organisations. You’ll benefit from collaboration with specialists across multiple disciplines and regions, bringing diverse perspectives to complex challenges.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for a passionate civil engineer with experience in sustainable infrastructure design and improving the built environment. Relevant experience may include:
- Site development
- Drainage and flood risk management
- Utilities coordination
- Earthworks and levels design
- Sustainable infrastructure design
- Highways/street design
- Active travel/public realm improvements

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting civil engineering solutions across diverse infrastructure projects
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, sustainable designs
- Producing technical designs, drawings, and reports
- Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and project teams for innovative outcomes
- Quality-checking and owning project elements
- Contributing to digital engineering/BIM advancements
Skills & Qualifications
We seek candidates who demonstrate:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
- Experience in civil engineering design and project delivery
- Proficiency with software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD
- Interest in digital design, BIM, or automation
- Proactive problem-solving and adaptability
Chartership (ICE or equivalent) is advantageous.
