Civil Engineer (Water)
Location: Epsom, London, Peterborough or Cambridge (Hybrid Working)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – Minimum 3 days per week in the office or on client site
Contract Type: Contract
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (Water) to join our growing multidisciplinary engineering team, supporting the successful delivery of major clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant programmes, delivering innovative engineering solutions from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction support and project completion.
Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will take ownership of civil engineering design activities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and provide technical expertise to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of civil engineering design packages for clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Produce and review engineering calculations, design reports, technical drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, working closely with mechanical, electrical, ICA, structural and geotechnical engineers.
- Deliver engineering solutions across feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design and construction support.
- Design pipelines, pumping stations, water treatment infrastructure and water reuse schemes.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, UK water industry standards and client specifications.
- Carry out design reviews, technical assurance and risk assessments.
- Support Project Managers to deliver projects on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Assist with technical proposals, tender submissions and business development opportunities.

Essential Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven civil engineering design experience within the UK water sector.
- Experience delivering clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic engineering and pipeline design.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Good understanding of the full project lifecycle from feasibility through to construction.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, NEC contracts and UK water industry standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership.

Desirable Requirements
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
- Previous engineering consultancy experience.
- Experience working on major UK water infrastructure frameworks.
- Knowledge of water utility specifications and design standards.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders and framework submissions.
