Civil Engineer - Water

Water Engineer – South Region Expansion

The Opportunity

Following a period of record-breaking growth, Stantec’s Water division is entering an ambitious new era. For 2026 and beyond, we are expanding our South Region teams to meet the challenges of climate change head-on.

We aren’t just consultants; we are partners to the UK’s top water clients. From iconic large-scale infrastructure to intricate urban drainage solutions, we design with a simple promise: Community first.

Joining our teams in High Wycombe, Reading, or Cambridge (all prime locations just a short stroll from the train station), you will immerse yourself in the full project lifecycle:

  • Diverse Pipeline: Tackle everything from asset planning and strategy to concept, outline, and detailed design.
  • Design & Build: Collaborate directly with contractor partners on major D&B projects that move from the screen to reality.
  • Project Scope: Lead civil engineering design across:
    • Water/Wastewater treatment
    • Networks
    • Storm Water overflows
    • Sustainable urban drainage

About You

You are a passionate engineer who doesn’t just want to "do the math"—you want to solve the problem.

  • Experienced: Proven track record of design experience within the UK water industry.
  • Qualified: Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent); ideally Chartered or Incorporated (ICE, CIWEM, or similar).
  • Collaborative: Thrives working alongside project leads and has a natural mentoring adeptness.
  • Innovative: Ready to challenge traditional methods for sustainable, efficient solutions.
