About the Role
The UK water sector is entering an era of transformational investment. As Egis expands its Water Business in the UK, we must build a high-performing Civil Engineering team to shape this new chapter.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking talented Civil Engineers (from Consultant to Associate Director) to deliver major water and wastewater programmes across the UK. Collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to technically robust, innovative, and sustainable treatment solutions, working on nationally significant projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute/lead civil engineering design packages across stages:
- Feasibility
- Optioneering
- Concept
- Outline and detailed design (e.g., AMP8, WINEP, SROs)
- Generate/oversee civil design packages for:
- Flood and erosion risk management
- Sustainable drainage solutions
- Develop and review civil engineering deliverables (calculations, models, drawings, reports) ensuring compliance with CESWI, UK regulations, client standards, and BIM specifications, while championing safe, sustainable, and buildable solutions.
- Conduct on-site visits for data acquisition and operator engagement.
- Collaborate with technology providers and vendors on technical solutions.
- Facilitate design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination, promoting optimal materials and construction approaches (including offsite fabrication) within project scope and budget.
- Provide design support during delivery phases, including:
- Reviewing contractor submissions
- Responding to design queries
- Assisting with handover/commissioning (when required)
- Contribute to business development, identifying opportunities, shaping scopes of work, and supporting bids—cultivating a proactive work-winning culture.
- Engage in recruiting, team mentorship, and skills development initiatives to grow Egis’s Civil Engineering base.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Degree: BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
- Chartership status: CEng (or working towards) recognised by a professional institution (e.g., ICE).
- Technical expertise: Proven experience in delivering civil design (ideally in UK water/sewerage industries), with leadership in key project phases or significant tasks.
- Software competency: Strong mastery of civil design tools: Civil 3D, drainage/hydraulic modelling, GIS platforms, and BIM-enabled workflows.
- Regulatory knowledge: In-depth understanding of CDM designer duties and principles of sustainable engineering, particularly low-carbon design and practical waste management.
- Project variety: Experience working in extended procurement models (e.g., PFI, alliances, Design & Build), including design reviews and technical assurance.
- Industry experience: In-house background in a consultancy firm or equivalent, approaching Civil Engineering from a clients’ needs perspective.
- Soft skills:
- Precision in analysing data and drafting technical reports and presentations for varied audiences.
- Flexibility to travelling frequently (inside/outside operational sites).
- Legal note: Must have the right to work in the UK.

- Specialisation in water reuse/recycling, sludge/bioresource treatment, or energy-from-waste systems.
- Sales or BD focus: Leading opportunity mapping, bid development, client nurturing, and business growth.
