We work with clients to plan, build, integrate and maintain a wide variety of civil infrastructure, from electricity grid upgrades to new nuclear power generation, from development of large industrial sites to catchment scale sustainable drainage system (SuDS) delivery. Our technical teams address every aspect of civil engineering design, working in close collaboration with the full breadth of Arup’s other design and engineering disciplines.

The Opportunity

We are looking for early to mid-career Civil Engineer with curiosity, personal drive and technical know-how to join the growing site development team in the Sheffield office. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment delivering projects that help shape sustainable, resilient and inclusive communities across the UK. Our portfolio spans a wide range of sectors and scales, including city centre regeneration, public realm improvements, industrial sites, major infrastructure, new-build nuclear, utilities, flood alleviation and resilience, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), and major residential and mixed-use schemes. Many of our projects are high profile and technically challenging, with a strong focus on sustainability, digital innovation and delivering positive social impact.

We work across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage advisory and concept development through to detailed design and construction support. Our clients include local authorities, government agencies, contractors, developers, utility providers and non-profit international organisations. The projects we deliver are located across the UK and in many other countries around the globe. As part of Arup’s wider UK and global network, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with specialists across multiple disciplines and regions, bringing together diverse perspectives to solve complex engineering challenges.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
