Your Role
As Associate Director – Civil Engineering, you will deliver high-profile Design & Build Infrastructure projects within C2V (Jacobs’ Joint Venture with VolkerStevin), supporting United Utilities’ largest-ever AMP8 programme in the North West. Your technical expertise will shape design, innovation, and delivery, ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership
- Lead technical governance, design approvals, and assurance reviews
- Drive robust, buildable, and innovative civil engineering solutions
- Champion Safety by Design standards and compliance

Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Influence programme planning, resource allocation, and delivery strategies
- Manage economic risk and design changes to minimise project disruptions
- Foster strong client relationships while aligning with long-term business goals

- Team Development & Mentorship
- Build and develop high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Provide strategic guidance to enhance technical excellence and delivery efficiency
About the Role
Your impact extends beyond project delivery—you’ll reshape how critical water infrastructure is designed, built, and operated. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity combining: ✔ Technical expertise across complex projects ✔ People leadership with mentorship opportunities ✔ Strategic client-facing role tied to major national programmes
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Professional Registration: Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or an equivalent institution
- Experience:
- Significant ability in detailed design for water/wastewater infrastructure
- Proven track record in Design & Build environments
- Confidence in leading multidisciplinary teams
- Skills:
- Strong stakeholder and client management
- Outstanding communication in a project-focused environment
