Location: Central London - SE1 (Zone 1)

Role Summary

The Civil Foreman/Tunnel Foreman at Joseph Gallagher will be responsible for overseeing and managing all civil and tunnelling construction activities. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Management: Oversee and manage a team of workers, ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Project Planning: Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure that all projects are executed as per the plan.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, and conduct regular safety checks and drills.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all construction activities meet the required quality standards.
  • Resource Management: Ensure that all resources, including manpower, machinery, and materials, are utilized efficiently.
  • Training: Provide training and guidance to junior staff and ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Reporting: Regularly report on project progress, challenges, and solutions to senior management.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project expenses and ensure that they stay within the allocated budget.
  • Problem Solving: Address any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process and find effective solutions.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have a Level 3 NVQ in Supervision.
  • Strong background in the role of Civil Foreman or Tunnel Foreman with a proven track record of successful project completions.
  • Ideally hold an SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
