Supervising Solicitor – Claims Against Public Authorities
Location – London/Hybrid
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to join a specialist team within a nationally recognised practice known for its commitment to access to justice and high-quality claimant work. You will play a key role in supervising and mentoring a team of solicitors, fee earners, and support staff, while continuing to handle a reduced caseload of complex and sensitive matters.
The successful candidate will help shape the future direction of the team, ensuring excellent client service, strong operational performance, and compliance with Legal Aid and regulatory requirements.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring others, driving team performance, and delivering exceptional legal work within a supportive and flexible environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Provide technical guidance to a team of Grade C solicitors, fee earners, and support staff
- Conduct regular supervision meetings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

Case & Client Management
- Maintain a caseload of primarily CAPA and AAP matters
- Deliver high-quality legal advice and representation to vulnerable clients
- Ensure cases are progressed efficiently and in line with best practice standards
Compliance & Operational Oversight
- Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and SRA regulations
- Monitor performance targets, billing, and operational KPIs
- Assist with departmental planning, forecasting, and reporting
- Contribute to business development initiatives and profile-raising activities
About You
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor (Grade A or B) specialising in CAPA and AAP
- Previous experience mentoring supervising legal teams is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent understanding of Legal Aid processes and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills
- A client-focused and sensitive approach when dealing with vulnerable individuals
