Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Civil Litigation Solicitor or CILEX role based in Oldham. The role involves managing a caseload of civil litigation matters, including disputes involving contracts, property, commercial issues, and other contentious matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The role also involves attending court hearings and case management conferences, liaising closely with counsel and experts, and ensuring matters progress efficiently and cost-effectively. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Maintain excellent client communication
  • Contribute to business development activities
  • Uphold the firm’s standards of professionalism and service

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with experience in civil litigation, including managing a contentious caseload from instruction to resolution.
  • Strong legal drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills, with the ability to produce clear advice, pleadings, and correspondence for clients and the court.
  • Excellent client care and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues in accessible terms and build long-term client relationships.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with experience prioritizing workloads, meeting deadlines, and handling matters cost-effectively.
  • Comfortable using legal practice management systems and other technology to support efficient case handling and document management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethical practice, teamwork, and continuous learning and development.
  • Previous experience in a similar private practice environment is desirable; familiarity with local courts and procedures in Oldham and the surrounding area is an advantage.
