About the Role

FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading infrastructure service provider within the Water and Wastewater sector for an experienced Civil Project Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing capital delivery team responsible for delivering key projects across the Anglian Water framework.

As a Civil Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of multiple civil and MEICA projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with client requirements and industry regulations. The role is based in Colchester with regular travel across East Anglia, offering a blend of office and site-based working.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil and MEICA projects in line with programme, budget, specification, and client requirements
  • Support the Project Delivery Manager in delivering multiple capital projects, ensuring compliance with all:
    • Contractual
    • Statutory
    • Environmental
    • Health & Safety requirements
  • Monitor project progress and identify risks affecting:
    • Cost
    • Quality
    • Programme
  • Raise Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Change Requests as necessary
  • Capture and record asset changes, including:
    • Decommissioning
    • Alterations
    • New assets within corporate systems
  • Liaise with:
    • Clients
    • Stakeholders
    • Contractors
    • Operational teams
  • Conduct site visits to:
    • Oversee works for quality and compliance standards
    • Support project planning, reporting, and documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation for efficiency
  • Contribute to clean water and wastewater treatment projects across the Anglian Water network

Required Skills and Experience

  • Engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, BTEC, HNC/HND, or Degree level)
  • Previous experience in:
    • Engineering
    • Utilities
    • Infrastructure
    • Construction environments
  • Customer-facing experience with a focus on building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Knowledge of:
    • Civil engineering principles
    • Project delivery methodologies
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to:
    • Manage multiple priorities
    • Work effectively within project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to regularly travel across East Anglia
  • Commitment to be commutable to Colchester

Desirable Experience

  • Experience delivering water, wastewater, or utilities projects
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and change management processes
  • Knowledge of MEICA project delivery and experience working in regulated infrastructure environments
