Civil Resident Engineer
Civil Resident Setting Out Engineer (R.E.) – Transmission & Renewables | Wales/South West England

You’ll be joining M Group Energy, a provider of end-to-end energy solutions—from electricity transmission and distribution to renewables, EV infrastructure, metering, and home decarbonisation. Specifically, this Civil Resident Setting Out Engineer (R.E.) will support tender programs and major design mandates—that are critical to National Grid and SSE—delivering substations up to 400kV voltage.

Responsibilities
As a Civil Resident Setting Out Engineer (R.E.), you’ll:
- Set out all civil works in alignment with project requirements, including:
- RC foundations
- Drainage systems
- Ducting and route marking
- Earthworks and earthmoving
- Roads, fencing, and operational access
- Assist the Civil Site Manager in on-site construction, ensuring:
- Punctuality, safety, and quality delivery
- Coordination with construction staff and trade contractors
- Support the Civil Design team with:
- Reviewing and advising on Temporary Works (TWS & TWCs)
- Managing architectural and mechanical snagging/boldings for defects
- Producing critical handover As-Built reports and drawings
- Collaborate on key project milestones, resolving:
- Design contingencies on-site
- TQs (Technical Queries) and RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Drawing submissions for client consumption
- Coordinate design data for:
- Realistic settlement tolerance calculations
- Representative geotechnical and hydro-geological models

Your Profile
To excel in this role, we’re looking for an engineering professional with proactive drive, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. You’ll bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in civil site surveying, setting-out, and construction sentiment.
- Proven BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent).
- Occupational Health & Safety diplomate (construction-based).
- NG-experienced background or equivalent standards (preferred):
- Knowledge of BS5975 Temporary Works and NG Transmission Procedures.
- Familiarity with Alignment for Earthworks System (a plus).
- Essential tools & facilitators:
- Health Safety Qualification (e.g., CSCS card or CSCS Combination Card).
- Full UK driving license ( categories B&M).
- Communicates fluently in technical aspects, using CAD databases (e.g., Spatial’aadd,Civil 3D).
- Competencies:
- Problem-solving under pressure with clarity of vision.
- Relationship building with internal collaborators and third-party contractors.
