Civil Site Engineer – (Wastewater Treatment Projects)

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Civil Site Engineer to work on Thames Water’s Wastewater Asset Assurance programme. Our Site Engineers are an integral part of our project team, safeguarding and managing the delivery of on-site civil works.

At Glanua, Engineers are presented with the chance to showcase their skills and leave a lasting impact on wastewater treatment projects. This role also provides visibility and involvement throughout the entire lifecycle of a project, from conception to handover.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly articulate project details and progress
  • Ensure seamless information exchange with stakeholders

Problem-solving professional with:

  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve on-site challenges
  • Sound judgement in adapting plans to irregularities

Possess strong technical competence with:

  • Expertise in civil engineering methods and materials
  • Deep understanding of construction techniques

Excellent client relationship management skills to:

  • Maintain positive working relationships

Key Technical Duties

  • Site Control & Setting Out: Oversee precision of site layouts and foundations
  • Subcontractor Coordination
    • Provide accurate information for subcontractor packages
    • Manage implementation of works agreed through subcontracts
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Oversee quality control of subcontractor deliverables
    • Compile Inspection & Test Plans and report findings
    • Document nonconformances for resolution
    • Maintain accurate as-built records during construction
  • Design Coordination
    • Verify accuracy and constructibility of models/drawings
    • Escalate issues/needs for information timely to design teams

reporting & Procurement

  • Contribute to labour/material cost reports
  • Liaise with Commercial Teams to align procurement with project timelines
  • Create and maintain weekly/bi-weekly lookahed programmes

Health & Safety

  • Conduct site inspections per H&S protocols
  • Contribute to Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Ensure adequate handover documentation completion

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • Qualifications
    • HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Certifications
    • Valid CSCS card
    • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – Desirable
    • Thames Water passport – Desirable
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in CAD for site-related tasks
    • Experience with Total Station & GPS equipment
  • Site Expertise
    • Extensive experience in groundworks, reinforced concrete, and temporary works
    • Subcontract management background
  • Licences
    • Full and valid driver’s licence (essential)
