Crafter Engineering is a dynamic and energetic design consultancy specialising in Temporary Works. Founded in 2023, offering practical and innovative solutions to the construction industry.

Our team is composed of experienced Civil and Structural Engineers who are passionate about delivering excellence in engineering.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Civil / Structural Engineer who has been working within the construction / engineering industry for a minimum of 3 years to fill a Design Engineer role. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in civil and structural design, with capability to:

  • Design and assess new and existing steel structures
  • Design and assess new and existing reinforced concrete structures
  • Design and assess new and existing timber structures
  • Temporary propping
  • Demolition stability
  • Excavation support
  • Facade retention
  • Scaffold design
  • Piling platform design

This role offers the opportunity to work on a strong pipeline of exciting infrastructure, demolition, and heavy industry-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver temporary works designs in accordance with BS 5975 and the Eurocodes.
  • Be able to confidently lead projects on Crafter's behalf, presenting to and working directly with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and reports to support design solutions.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, including site visits and inspections as necessary.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and procedures within the company.
  • Be prepared to help Crafter define a new standard of quality that the industry should come to expect.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Working towards chartered status with ICE or IStructE.
  • Proven experience in engineering design, including the areas mentioned above, particularly structural engineering or civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of relevant design codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
