Role Description
This full-time Civil Structural Engineer role is a hybrid position based in the Bristol Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves undertaking civil and structural design for maritime infrastructure, including analysis, calculations, and detailed design of port, coastal, and waterfront structures. The Civil Structural Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, liaise with clients and contractors, and assist with site inspections and assessments. The role also includes:
- Participating in project planning
- Monitoring progress
- Helping to ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and sustainability requirements
Qualifications
- Strong background in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to maritime and coastal infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Civil Engineering Design and Structural Analysis, including producing calculations, specifications, and design documentation.
- Demonstrated Project Management capabilities, such as coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and contributing to delivery within time and budget.
- Relevant degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent), with progress toward or achievement of professional registration (e.g., Chartered Engineer) preferred.
- Experience with industry-standard design and analysis software, and good working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and engage with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work safely on active construction and marine sites; prior maritime or coastal engineering experience is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to learn and adapt to new technical challenges.
