This role is based within Esh Civils which delivers infrastructure schemes of all sizes, including major capital projects. We work in partnership with local authorities throughout the North East, Tees Valley, Yorkshire and the Humber to deliver a variety of projects, including public realm, highways, flood alleviation, active travel and bridge works.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineer to take full responsibility for the day-to-day engineering activities on civil engineering schemes within the General Civils sector. This key role involves providing technical leadership on site, ensuring that all engineering works are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and safety standards. The successful candidate will play a vital role in coordinating site teams, maintaining quality, and supporting the successful delivery of projects.

  • Understands and implements Safe Methods of Work
  • Leads by example on Health, Safety and Environmental
  • Has a good understanding of H,S & E best practices within Construction
  • Maintains basic standards on site
  • Demonstrates good technical all-round knowledge of Basic engineering principles
  • Can Mentor and develop Engineers/set example
  • Can provide ideas /troubleshoot across a range of projects
  • Shows examples of innovation and outside the box thinking with project benefits (cost/programme)
  • Can produce good quality As-built Surveys
  • Can produce technical drawings
  • Can competently take off and produce Quantities (Tender through to Completion)
  • Can plan and divide time between a range of different activities
  • Can identify activities where time can be gained
  • Basic Understanding of Planning software
  • Understand and plan time to meet programme milestones
  • Has a basic understanding of Contract requirements (NEC Cl31,32 and Cl 60s)
  • Maintains up to date and accurate records of measurement and quantities for direct and subcontract works to support commercial team
  • Can identify Early warnings and compensation events
  • Can prepare daily and weekly progress reports
  • Is familiar with the use of various project management systems for Key documentation Reporting
  • Can produce basic monthly reporting with regards to engineering aspects (Earthwork quantities etc,)
  • Can report on the progression of Trainee/Engineers with regards to Engineers training plan deliverables
  • Maintains company quality assurance documentation for ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 systems
  • Has an understanding of Sector QA and demonstrates buy in by compliance
  • Has ability to recognise defective works
  • Ensures project team and SC supply chain deliver to standards (Lead by Example)
  • Ensure Engineering team are complying with Quality assurance records
  • Can compile efficiently the necessary documentation to complete H&S File and handover documentation

Qualifications

  • Appropriate civils qualification HNC/HND/ Degree
  • Good IT skills - Including proficiency in CAD, N4CE/LSS
  • CSCS card
  • Experienced in delivery of civil engineering schemes - value £100k - £5million
  • First aid at work certificate desirable
  • Temporary Works Supervisor
  • UK driving licence, clean or low on points
