We're looking for an experienced Civil & Structures Manager to lead the successful delivery of capital civil engineering and structures projects across our Cheshire West & Chester contract based at our Guilden Sutton depot, CH3 7EX. Working closely with clients, operational teams and commercial colleagues, you'll be responsible for delivering projects safely, on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service. You'll provide strong leadership to delivery teams, build trusted client relationships and drive operational excellence, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and in line with Colas' commitment to safety, sustainability and innovation.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of capital civil engineering and structures projects, ensuring schemes are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Work closely with clients through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), building strong relationships, attending regular progress meetings and ensuring project objectives and customer expectations are consistently met.
- Take ownership of project planning, programming and resource management, coordinating direct labour, subcontractors and supply chain partners to deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions.
- Oversee project budgets, monitor financial performance, support cost value reconciliation and work collaboratively with Commercial teams to manage procurement, quotations, contract administration and project handovers.
- Identify commercial opportunities, drive operational efficiencies and promote self-delivery in line with the One Colas culture.
- Provide visible leadership across project teams, creating a positive and collaborative working environment where safety, quality and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
- Mentor and develop Supervisors and operational teams, identify training and development opportunities and ensure resources are aligned to meet current and future business needs.
- Champion Colas' industry-leading health, safety, environmental and quality standards, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, risk assessments, method statements and company procedures.
- Promote a right-first-time approach, proactively manage project risks and drive continuous improvement to enhance project performance and customer satisfaction.
- Work alongside internal stakeholders and external partners, helping strengthen client relationships, support business development opportunities and contribute to the successful delivery of Colas' wider strategic objectives, including sustainability, social value and collaborative working across the business.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a background in civil engineering or construction management with experience delivering highways, structures or bridge projects within a live operational environment. You'll be confident managing multidisciplinary teams, resources, budgets and NEC contracts, while building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders. You'll possess excellent organisational and communication skills, a proactive approach to problem solving and a passion for delivering projects safely and efficiently. An ONC, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction is essential, with Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience in structures considered advantageous.

Package Description
Here at Colas, we offer a great total compensation package, including:
- A salary between £75,000 and £85,000 (dependent on experience) PLUS Company Car / Car Allowance
- Our Colas Pension Scheme has combined contributions of up to 10%
