Cladding Buyer
Commercial Cladding Buyer – KGM Roofing (Lindum Group)
About the Role
Established in 1956, Lindum Group is the leading Construction company in the East Midlands, employing over 630 staff across sites and offices in Lincoln, Peterborough, and York. Specialising in Maintenance, refurbishment, and New Build projects for public and private sector clients, the Group operates with expertise and financial strength.
Since joining the Lindum Group in 1977, KGM Roofing—based in Peterborough—offers a complete service, including consultation, design, installation, and maintenance across the UK.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Cladding Buyer to oversee the procurement of cladding materials, systems, fixings, accessories, plant, and associated services for live and upcoming projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, designers, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure materials are procured with best-value, delivered on time, compliant with specifications, and aligned with project budgets and programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure cladding materials, façade systems, fixings, flashings, insulation, membranes, plant, equipment, and associated services in accordance with project requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation to identify material requirements and support accurate take-offs.
- Obtain, analyse, and compare supplier quotations to secure best-value pricing while maintaining quality, compliance, and programme adherence.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, lead times, and delivery arrangements with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in quantities, specifications, delivery address, costs, and approvals.
- Monitor long-lead items and proactively manage delivery schedules to prevent project delays.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and identify new supply chain opportunities.
- Track market trends, material availability, price increases, and product developments in the cladding and façade sector.
- Liaise with site teams, project managers, design teams, estimators, and commercial colleagues to align procurement with project delivery.
- Resolve supply, quality, delivery, invoice, and non-conformance issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure materials meet project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, order trackers, cost reports, and purchase ledger documentation.
- Support cost-saving initiatives, framework agreements, preferred supplier arrangements, and continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Essential Experience & Skills
- Previous buying or procurement experience in construction, preferably within roofing, cladding, façades, building envelopes, or specialist subcontracting.
- Strong commercial awareness, with skills in negotiating competitive prices and supplier terms.
- Good understanding of cladding materials, façade systems, construction drawings, and project programmes.
- Ability to undertake or support material take-offs from project documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, site teams, and internal stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, particularly for order accuracy, specification checks, and record-keeping.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office (Excel), with desirable experience using procurement, ERP, or purchase order systems.
- Proactive problem-solving to identify supply risks and implement practical solutions.

Desirable Qualifications
- CIPS qualification, working towards CIPS, or equivalent procurement training.
- Construction-related qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Experience working with specialist cladding contractors, main contractors, or façade subcontractors.
- Knowledge of UK construction procurement processes, health and safety standards, and supply chain compliance.
Contract Details & Benefits
- Full-time, permanent role, based in Peterborough (Fengate offices).
- Working hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00.
