Claims Data Quality Lead
Role Description
As part of our UK strategy and purpose, we are recruiting a Claims Data Quality Lead to join the Claims Insight & Performance team. This opportunity presents the chance to lead the enhancement, ownership, and long-term sustainability of data quality across Claims—ensuring it supports performance, customer outcomes, and risk management.
This is a pivotal role within Allianz UK Claims, focused on driving improvements, governance, and embedding data quality at a strategic level.
You will be responsible for coordinating the entire data quality improvement initiative, ensuring that the data underlying our operations, reporting, and decision-making is trustworthy, well-controlled, and fit for purpose.
Based within Claims Insight & Performance and reporting to the Head of Data Improvement and Culture, you will partner across the Claims data ecosystem—closely working with Operational Data Improvement Managers (ODIMs), Data Stewards, and the Central Data Office—to transform data quality from a reactive to a sustained operational capability.
This is a high-impact opportunity to shape how data quality is managed at scale and to deliver measurable improvements in performance, customer outcomes, and risk management.
Location
- Base: One of our offices in Bournemouth, Birmingham, Guildford, or Milton Keynes
- Working Model: Hybrid role with a minimum expectation of 2 office days per week
Salary Information
- Circa £55,000 per year
- Salary depends on experience, skills, and location and is part of a competitive benefits package.
About the Role
Own Data Quality Improvement Across Claims
- Drive and coordinate the Claims data quality improvement agenda in alignment with business priorities
- Identify and prioritise data issues with the greatest impact on performance, customer outcomes, and risk management
- Translate data quality gaps into clear and actionable improvement plans
Embed a Sustainable Operating Model
- Increase clarity and support the embedding of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across Claims
- Collaborate with Operational Data Improvement Managers to embed consistent data quality management within operational teams
- Assist Data Stewards in effectively owning and managing data within their domains

- Ensure clear controls, transparency, and audit readiness for critical data domains
- Establish proportionate governance that facilitates delivery—not just compliance

- Link data quality improvements to operational outcomes
- Track, evidence, and communicate the impact of data quality on performance and decision-making
- Ensure data quality supports effective reporting, analytics, and AI
Build Capability and Culture
- Increase understanding and confidence in data quality across Claims
- Promote consistent, responsible data practices in daily operations
- Support the transition to proactive, owned, and sustainable data management
Requirements
Essential Skills
- Experience driving data quality or data governance improvements in a complex operational environment
- Strong grasp of data ownership, stewardship, and control frameworks
- Proven ability to operate through others (e.g., embedded roles, federated models) rather than remoteness
- Ability to prioritise competing data quality issues based on business impact
- Experience influencing and collaborating with senior stakeholders across business and central functions
- Confident ability to communicate complex data concepts in a clear and practical way
Desirable Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Claims and the broader UK insurance sector (preferred)
- Experience with responsible AI usage
