Claims Handler – Medical Malpractice [European]
Malta / Germany / Italy / other EU Remote considered
Hybrid, two days in office OR remote, location dependent
Permanent / full-time
We are a fast-growing global reinsurance speciality company servicing the insurance markets of Lloyd’s, Europe and North America.
We are seeking a new Medical Malpractice Claims Handler to oversee complex European portfolios, with a focus on Germany and France. Reporting to the MedMal Team Manager, you’ll join a small team of experienced MedMal Claims professionals in a supportive, high performing team.
This is an opportunity to manage high-value, litigated and non-litigated medmal claims while contributing to strategic claims savings and acquisition due diligence within a growing international legacy group.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex medical malpractice claims from investigation through to settlement
- Oversee claims above delegated authority limits in collaboration with TPAs
- Lead negotiations and settlements in collaboration with TPAs
- Assess reserves, liability and coverage with strong technical oversight
- Identify portfolio trends and strategic savings opportunities
- Support claims input into new deal due diligence
This role offers exposure to cross-border claims handling and strategic portfolio management.
Candidate requirements
- Right to work in UK or EU in any permanent role
- Some experience in Medical Malpractice claims
- Strong knowledge of liability, policy wordings and insurance processes
- Experience within German and/or French jurisdictions highly desirable
- Proven negotiation skills in complex or disputed matters
- Fluent English and German or French advantageous
- Commercially aware, collaborative and solutions-focused
- Contributing positively to our culture and values.
