About the Role
Join a leading international law firm and shape its approach to risk, claims, and compliance.
We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Claims & Investigation Lawyer to join our General Counsel’s Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor or experienced claims professional with expertise in professional indemnity insurance, claims management, and regulatory matters. Working at the heart of the firm’s risk and compliance function, you will play a key role in protecting the firm’s interests, managing contentious issues, and supporting strategic risk management initiatives across the business.
The Opportunity
As a Claims & Investigation Lawyer, you will work closely with senior compliance, HR, and insurance specialists, reporting to the Associate General Counsel – Claims. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the management of professional indemnity and employment claims.
- Liaising with insurers, brokers, and external legal advisors.
- Supporting insurance renewal processes and advising on policy coverage issues.
- Managing and investigating client complaints, while monitoring associated risks.
- Assisting with the development of policies, training materials, and internal guidance.
- Preparing reports, analysing claims data, and identifying trends and emerging risks.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and contributing to firm-wide compliance initiatives.
- Supporting projects that strengthen risk management, governance, and operational excellence.
You’ll join a highly respected General Counsel’s Office, comprising over 80 risk and compliance professionals who provide strategic legal, regulatory, and risk advice across the firm’s international operations.

Your key activities will include:
- Handling professional indemnity and employment claims.
- Collaboration with insurers, brokers, and external lawyers.
- Advising on insurance policy terms and coverage disputes.
- Overseeing client complaint investigations and their resolution strategies.
- Drafting internal policies, training materials, and compliance guidelines.
- Monitoring claims trends and reporting findings to support proactive risk mitigation.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory changes to comply with professional and industry standards.
- Contributing to process improvements in risk management, governance, and firm operations.
Core Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate the following:
- Qualified Solicitor status or significant experience in insurance claims handling.
- Strong understanding of professional indemnity insurance, its regulatory environment, and related compliance needs.
- Ability to manage complex claims independently with sound judgment and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, with a confident ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, with a talent for explaining intricate issues clearly.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams while balancing competing demands effectively.
- Precision in attention to detail and a professional, discrete approach.
- Strong organisational acumen and ability to deliver quality output under tight deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset and fluency in working across diverse teams and jurisdictions.
- Proficiency with technology and an interest in demystifying complex processes.
- Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to remain composure under pressure.

Desirable Experience
Experience in the following areas is beneficial but not essential:
- Experience in managing or mentoring junior professionals.
- Knowledge of US-style conflicts rules or US professional conduct rules.
- Previous roles advising on or supporting investigations into SRA compliance matters.
