Location: Any UK office may be considered
Contract: Permanent, with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office
Join a leading international law firm and shape its approach to risk, claims, and compliance.
We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Claims & Investigation Lawyer to join our General Counsel's Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor or experienced claims professional with expertise in professional indemnity insurance, claims management, and regulatory matters.
The Opportunity
As a Claims & Investigation Lawyer, you will work closely with senior compliance, HR, and insurance specialists, reporting to the Associate General Counsel - Claims. Your role includes supporting the identification, management, and resolution of claims, complaints, and professional responsibility matters. This will help safeguard the firm's reputation and ensure effective risk management.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the management of professional indemnity and employment claims, and relevant circumstances.
- Liaising with insurers, brokers, and external legal advisers.
- Supporting insurance renewal processes and advising on policy coverage issues.
- Managing and investigating client complaints and monitoring associated risks.
- Assisting with the development of policies, training materials, and internal guidance.
- Preparing reports and analyzing claims data; identifying trends and emerging risks.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and supporting firm-wide compliance initiatives.
- Contributing to projects that strengthen risk management, governance, and operational excellence across the firm.

You’ll be part of a highly respected General Counsel’s Office, made up of over 80 risk and compliance professionals. They provide strategic legal, regulatory, and risk advice across the firm's international operations.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this Claims & Investigation Lawyer role, you will possess:
- Qualified Solicitor status or significant experience in insurance claims handling.
- Strong knowledge of professional indemnity insurance and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to manage matters independently while applying sound judgment and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence in engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and balancing competing priorities effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail, paired with professionalism, discretion and resilience.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across different teams and jurisdictions.
- Strong technology skills, and an interest in understanding and communicating technical processes.
- Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced environments.

Desirable Experience May Include:
- Experience in managing or mentoring others.
- Knowledge of US-style conflict rules or professional conduct rules.
- Previous experience advising on or supporting SRA professional conduct requirements.
