Role overview
We’re excited to bring a new role into our team as a Claims Technical Lead, where you’ll support the ongoing development of our Motor Bodily Injury function. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening the technical capability of our Claims teams and ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality outcomes for both our customers and our business.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about technical excellence, thrives in a changing environment and is confident and experienced in working with and coaching/mentoring high-value bodily injury claims.
Please note – you must be willing to travel to our sites to deliver and/or facilitate training sessions for our colleagues.
Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:
- Collaborating with the Head of Large Loss to define and implement the technical strategy across the unit responsible for managing claims up to £250k
- Leading the design and implementation of a structured development pathway that enhances the technical capability, confidence and progression of high value injury handlers across the department
- Supporting colleagues through technical coaching and guidance, helping them build confidence and capability in handling complex bodily injury claims – serving as the primary technical referral point for senior handlers
- Working closely with specialist, front line colleagues and leaders across to drive improvements in the way we assess, manage and resolve high value cases and seek out opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce indemnity spend and strengthen decision-making, using insights from audits and market developments
- Monitoring and interpreting changes across the bodily injury landscape (including CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC and the Intermediate Track) ensuring our teams understand and adapt to emerging requirements
- Helping to shape our technical standards, quality controls and governance frameworks to make sure our bodily injury handling remains compliant, consistent and commercially strong

Essential skills/experience:
- Significant experience in handling high-value motor bodily injury claims, ideally up to £500k
- Excellent knowledge of indemnity principles, insurance contract, RTA, MIB Articles of Association (including Article 75), BI legislation, protocols and frameworks (including CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC and Intermediate Track)
- Experience of coaching and/or mentoring colleagues with a proven ability to help lift capability across the team, reviewing high value files and providing feedback that is both supporting and development focused
- Strong complaints handling knowledge and experience with the ability to resolve issues effectively and in line with regulatory expectations
