Class 1 HGV Driver (Permanent Contract)

British Gypsum site, Sherburn in Elmet
About the Role
At XPO, we’re looking for dedicated and experienced HGV Drivers (C+E) to join our team at our British Gypsum operation. You’ll play a crucial role in transporting heavy freight between our sites while contributing to a highly safety-focused environment.
Shift Pattern
Mon – Fri (evening / night shifts)
Pay & Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate: £18.19/hour (PAYE)
- Opportunity to work extra shifts for enhanced earnings
- FORS-compliant warehouse environment (Silver Standard)
Typical Responsibilities
- Transport full trunk loads between British Gypsum sites
- Drive new equipment and handle new trailers
- Operate in a strictly safety-driven environment
- No manual handling – all loads are pre-loaded, tipped, and managed by British Gypsum personnel

Requirements
Licensing & Compliance
- Full UK Class 1 HGV licence (with C+E entitlement)
- No more than six penalty points on licence
- No endorsements for:
- DD (Dangerous Driving)
- DR (Driving Dangerously)
- IN (Driving While Disqualified)
- CD (Careless Driving)
- Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Valid Digital Tachograph card
Experience & Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of the UK road network
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures and **heavy freight"; documentation best practices
