Class 2 HGV Driver
HGV Class 2 Dray Driver – Permanent (Full-Time)
Location: Ipswich, IP1 5NX Grade: CA Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time) Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (05:00 – 07:00) + 4 Compulsory Saturdays per year, 44hr week Salary: £40,036.00
About the Role
DHL, an award-winning leader in supply chain solutions, is seeking an HGV Class 2 Dray Driver to join our team.
This customer-facing role combines operational drive with interpersonal skill—ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships while delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include:
- Daily operating hours: Early shifts (unless exceptional circumstances apply)
- Compulsory Saturdays: 4 per year
- Alcoholic products delivery: Distribution to pubs, restaurants, and hotels
- Daily trips: Completing 10–12 drops per day (multidrops)
- Manual handling: Managing stock of up to 11 tonnes daily
- Safe and efficient driving: Full compliance with Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations
- Adherence to standards: Strict compliance with Health & Safety, road safety laws, and vehicle regulations

Working collaboratively with a Driver's Mate to:
- Assist with unloading
- Obtain and manage Proof of Deliveries (PODs)
- Maintain team co-ordination for transport operations
Requirements
We seek candidates with the following experience (though we welcome all tailored applications – potential matters):
- Essential:
- Valid HGV Class 2 (C) Licence
- Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- No more than 6 penalty points on driving licence
- Desirable:
- Experience in multi-drop HGV driving
- Experience in drayage, courier, or equivalent logistics delivery
