FM Conway is seeking skilled Class 2 Tanker Drivers
FM Conway is seeking skilled Class 2 Tanker Drivers to join our dedicated Water and Drainage Management team. In this vital role, you’ll help protect communities and keep essential infrastructure running smoothly.
Working independently, you’ll be at the front line of drainage operations, responding to reactive and emergency works, carrying out flood management duties while driving a Class 2 Liquid Waste Tanker. This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Hickstead, West Sussex, working either the day or night shift, with fortnightly pay.
The duties of the Class 2 Tanker Driver role will include:
- Operating a Class 2 Liquid Waste Tanker as part of front-line water and drainage operations, safely transporting and handling liquid waste in line with company procedures and legislation
- Delivering essential flood management, drainage response, and reactive emergency works and working independently on site to protect communities and critical infrastructure
- Responding promptly to urgent call-outs, supporting emergency and planned works to ensure the effective resolution of drainage and flooding issues
- Accurately recording and reporting all work carried out, including identifying and flagging any additional issues that require follow-up
- Using our app-based reporting system to update job progress, upload photos/videos, and ensure clear communication with the wider team
What skills and experience do you need?
We’re looking for reliable, committed individuals who hold a Class 2 licence and a valid Driver CPC. You’ll enjoy working independently and demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety. While previous experience in the drainage industry is preferred, it’s not essential, full training can be provided for the right candidate. Drivers are expected to be available for a 10-hour shift and weekend work, but should be prepared, under emergency conditions, to commit to longer duty when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
