About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and support to clients on compliance with the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated secondary legislation.
At its core the role focusses on providing advice to the statutory duty holders, (as defined in the amended building regulations) on both new and existing buildings categorised as Higher Risk Buildings (and in some instances non-higher risk buildings), during the design, construction, and occupation phases of a building.
You will be expected to deliver projects to the required quality and contributing to business growth and development activities. You will provide an expert point of reference on legislative and procedural matters relating to the application of the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the associated Secondary Legislation. You will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement process within the business unit, assisting in the development of new assurance services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting and advising commercial clients about building / property issues in line with the UK Building Regulations and all necessary legislation.
- Contribution to business development targets through relevant engagement with project stakeholders and effective follow-through of leads
- Acting as BV contact for external project stakeholders
- Bid and quote preparation
- Leading projects across a range of mid- and high-rise building types (over 30m tall), with a project value between £1m and £10m. Accountable for carrying out inspections of work; checking plans, drawings and associated information to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations
- Ensuring that records of all project and inspection records are accurately entered on the database
- Generating quotations and compiling technical reports.
- Coaching and sharing project and technical knowledge with Assistant Surveyors & Surveyors
- Developing and maintaining excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Carrying out duties in accordance with QA procedures
- Attend relevant training sessions and completion of personal CPD
- Supporting relevant Technical Authorities on other schemes as required
Candidate Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will hold accredited RICS/CABE/CIOB/RIBA status. Boasting an extensive background post qualification in the built environment (with demonstrable experience working with Higher Risk Buildings).

- Registered Building Inspector Class 2F
- Ideally qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Building Control / Building Surveying
- Demonstrable experience of working as an Approved Inspector in Building Control, ideally with exposure to commercial clients
- Accredited RICS/CABE/CIOB status
- Commercial outlook and excellent client-facing skills
- Excellent relationship-building skills with ability to develop professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Competent user of MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage a varied and busy workload
