DISCLOSURE OF CRIMINAL BACKGROUND
The role falls under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (‘regulated activity’).
✔ An Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (cost ~£33) will be required before appointment. ✔ You may need to pay for the disclosure yourself. ✔ Visit NI Direct or the Department of Justice for further guidance.
JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible to: Cleaning Supervisor or authorised person
Job Purpose
As part of a team, you will carry out school/department cleaning duties based on designated tasks provided by your line manager.
1 Duties and Responsibilities
Core Cleaning Tasks
- Highlighted duties represent typical tasks. You may be assigned other relevant responsibilities during your role.
Floors & Surfaces
✔ Sweep, suction clean, mop, buff, dry-spray wax, machine scrub using appropriate tools ✔ Strip & repolish floors as required. ✔ Clean & decontaminate carpeting & matting using industry-standard methods.
Sanitary Facilities
✔ Maintain toilets & shower areas, including all equipment and fittings.
Dusting & Maintenance
✔ Dust, clean, wash and polish up to 3.35m high: ledges, wall-mounted units, fixtures/fittings, internal surfaces and furniture.

Waste Management
✔ Empty and deep-clean litter bins, removing waste to designated areas.

All work must comply with: 🔹 Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 🔹 Relevant statutory instruments, regulations, and building codes 🔹 COSHH Regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
Working Conditions
✔ Duties may involve extra effort beyond a normal schedule. ✔ You will assist colleagues on sick or annual leave following EA’s procedures.
Attendance & Reporting
✔ Report absences according to EA guidelines and submit documentation. ✔ When working, wear: 👟 Suitable enclosed-toe flat-soled footwear 🧴 Issued protective clothing if applicable
Equipment Use
✔ Safely use, maintain, and report damages to all cleaning machinery/equipment.
Paperwork
✔ Complete all necessary administrative tasks related to your duties.
Training & Responsibilities
✔ You must accept training to undertake tasks above your grade level, with pay only justified by EA need.
Whistleblowing & Equality
✔ In line with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act, 1998, you should: ✔ Promote good relations ✔ Champion equal opportunities ✔ Align with EEA guidance and equalities policies.
