Cleaner (Early Hours) - Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama
About the Role
Hours of Work: This position is based at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff, working Monday to Friday, 05:00 AM – 07:30 AM.
As a Cleaner, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our clients, colleagues, and visitors across OCS sites. You will deliver high standards of cleaning and hygiene, adhering to agreed specifications, health and safety requirements, and company values.
This role focuses on performing daily cleaning tasks, ensuring assigned areas meet the highest standards while providing a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting general cleaning duties (vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, and waste removal) as required
- Maintaining welfare areas, offices, corridors, washrooms, and other designated spaces to the required standard
- Replenishing consumables such as toilet paper, hand towels, and soap as necessary
- Strictly adhering to health & safety, COSHH, and cleaning procedures
- Safely and correctly operating cleaning equipment and materials
- Reporting any maintenance issues, damages, or hazards to the appropriate supervisor
- Completing tasks within agreed timelines
- Providing a professional and courteous service to all clients, colleagues, and visitors
- Supporting site-specific cleaning tasks as directed by your manager

Requirements
Essential Criteria:
✔ Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo a DBS check ✔ Previous cleaning experience (preferably in a commercial, public sector, or similar environment) (desirable ✔ Clear understanding of cleaning methods, equipment, and maintenance ✔ Awareness of health & safety and hygiene standards ✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team ✔ Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards ✔ Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work ✔ Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
Desirable (or Provided via Training):
🔹 Experience working within Facilities Management (FM) or contracted cleaning services 🔹 Knowledge of COSHH or safe use of cleaning chemicals (training can be provided) 🔹 Impact training (can be provided)
