Salary & Contract Details
- Salary: £9,889.35 pro rata (based on £24,482 at full time on the Ark Outside London Support Scale 1, Pay Point 2).
- Contract Type: Permanent.
- Working Pattern: Part-Time (15 hours per week).
- Hours: 3.30pm – 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, plus 5 weeks during school holidays. (Exact timings will be discussed at interview.)
- Location: Ark Alexandra Academy, Hastings, East Sussex.
- Start Date: 01/09/2026.

A reliable and detail-oriented Cleaner is needed to join Ark Alexandra Academy’s team to maintain cleanliness across two campuses. This role will involve regular cleaning responsibilities with access to online training and a dedicated workspace.
This position ensures that our campuses are safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning for students, staff, and visitors. Holding a cleaning standard that embraces Ark’s values of high expectations and teamwork is essential.
responsibilities
- High standards of cleaning to a detailed benchmark, particularly in a school environment.
- Attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards across multiple areas.
- Remaining flexible to cover alternate shifts, tasks, or abrupt overlapping campus commitments.
- Following strict operational health and safety guidelines (any omissions may result in termination).
- Demonstrating strong teamwork, accurate task completion, and independence.
- Managing complex workloads with deadlines and high-priority tasks.
- Workaround a structured shift schedule with a flexible and collaborative attitude.
essential requirements
- Previous cleaning experience, ideally in a school-related setting.
- A dedicated and precise work ethic, including knowledge of manual hygiene and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to operate independently, troubleshoot common issues, and escalate specific problems as required.
- Finance information:
- an enhanced DBS check conducted by Ark Academy as a recruitment pre-requisite. (Applicants must disclose any relevant past convictions, then abide by Ark’s no-tolerance policy under OfS Section 128 and their safeguarding guidance.)
