Cleaner (Part-Time, Temporary) – St Mary’s CE Primary School (Bridport)
We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented cleaner to join our fantastic team at St Mary’s CE Primary School in Bridport. This is a temporary, part-time position (15 hours per week, 43 school weeks) until 31 August 2027.
Position details:
- Salary (Grade 1, SCP 3): £9,533 per annum (pro rata, including paid annual leave)
- Contract type: Temporary (until 31 August 2027)
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 5.00 pm – 8.00 pm (subject to changes per school needs)
- Duration: Term time + inset days (with deep cleans during holidays, 43 weeks total)
- Closing date: 31 August 2026
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, clean-driven individual who:
- Takes real pride in their work and pays meticulous attention to detail.
- Works effectively as part of a close-knit team to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment.
- Undertakes a broad range of cleaning duties, including:
- Regular classroom and corridor cleaning
- Sanitisation of shared areas and playgrounds
- Deep cleaning throughout the school, including specialist duties (as required).
- May be responsible for locking and securing the school when cleaning tasks are complete.

Key Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining high hygiene standards across all school facilities.
- Assisting in holiday deep-clean schedules to ensure readiness for pupils’ return.
- Protecting school property and reporting any issues (e.g., damage, maintenance needs).
- Adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Following outreach guidelines (e.g., risk assessments, chemical handling).
Requirements
Must be an individual who:
- Is conscientious and reliable in a team-focused environment.
- Has experience with premises cleaning and familiarity with school settings (no formal qualification strictly required).
- Can commit to the evening working pattern (term-time only).
- Must have or be willing to complete a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check due to safeguarding responsibilities.
Desirable Qualities
- Experience in cleaning with children/staff present.
- Knowledge of cleaning protocols for educational environments.
- Strong sense of customer service to interact with school teams.
