About the School
Located in the north of Portsmouth, Court Lane Infant School has a caring ethos, encouraging and supporting children to be inspired, excel and work together. It is a positive and active place to work, and we believe that success here is built on strong relationships between everyone involved in the academy.
About the Role
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our committed team of cleaners.
As a cleaner, you will be responsible for a range of cleaning tasks, including collection and disposal of waste. Areas to be cleaned will include toilets, classrooms, corridors, offices, library, hall and other communal areas including communal appliances such as the dishwashers and fridges. You will also be required to be part of the deep-clean team in the holiday periods, cleaning wider areas of the school. This is usually 1 week of the Easter holidays and 2 weeks of the summer holidays, and 1 other week to be arranged. Dates and timings are agreed in advance with the premises team and Site Manager.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
