About The Role
As our Cleaner, you will ensure nursery premises remain clean, tidy, and hygienic — including the laundry room — while checking and reordering stock in advance. You must be capable of operating all necessary equipment, such as:
- Vacuum cleaners
- Dishwashers
- Washing machines
- Tumble dryers
- Steam cleaners

Tops Fawley Nursery is a 67-place day nursery and preschool catering to children aged 3 months to preschool.

Key Responsibilities
- Hygiene measures: Disinfect surfaces, toys, and furniture.
- Waste management: Empty bins and dispose of waste properly.
- Facility maintenance:
- Clean communal areas (kitchens, staff rooms).
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all spaces.
- Equipment & chemicals: Handle cleaning tools, materials, and products safely and effectively.
- Reporting issues: Identify, log, and escalate faults, damages.

Requirements & Person Specifications
- Experience: Previous cleaning role (preferably in childcare, education, or similar is highly beneficial).
- Hygiene & safety: In-depth understanding of cleanliness and safety standards relevant to children’s settings.
- Compliance:
- Must embrace the sustainable ethos of the nursery (e.g., energy conservation, recycling).
- Professional traits:
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Reliability & punctuality alongside a strong work ethic.
- Adheres to cleaning schedules and times management.
Important Safeguarding Information
Due to the nature of this role involving regulated activity with children, all candidates must:
- Hold or obtain an enhanced DBS check (cost applies if new).
- Be eligible to work in regulated childcare roles (not on Children’s Barred List).
- Successfully complete background checks, references, and safeguarding training.
