Cleaning Operative – Eastgate Shopping Centre, London
Location: Eastgate Shopping Centre
Shift Pattern: 5 days on, 2 days off • 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: £13.41 per hour

About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, reliable, and hardworking Cleaning Operative to join our team at Eastgate Shopping Centre. This role offers an opportunity to become part of a dedicated professional team responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors, retailers, and colleagues.
In this position, you will play a vital part in upholding the highest standards of hygiene and presentation, ensuring an exceptional customer experience. You will work as part of a supportive team to deliver effective cleaning services, balancing planned tasks with urgent needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the shopping centre
- Clean and sanitise lifts, including stainless steel surfaces, doors, frames, runners, and mirrors
- Sweep, mop, and polish floors in public and back-of-house areas
- Duty of care for washrooms and staff facilities, including cleaning, sanitising, and restocking consumables
- Empty waste bins and manage disposal in line with site guidelines
- Set up, maintain, and securely store cleaning equipment and materials
- Monitor assigned areas and address cleaning needs proactively
- Respond quickly to spillages and emergency cleaning tasks
- Support Team Leaders and Supervisors to maintain consistent service excellence
- Complete all required training and adhere to Health & Safety policies

Requirements
- No prior cleaning experience required, though desirable due to training provision
- Attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- A customer-focused mentor and professional attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work requirements
- Capable of working both independently and within a team
