Cleaning Operations - Food Hygiene (Assistant Manager, Nights)

Assistant Manager – Store Services (Nights)

Our Store Services team is hiring a Assistant Manager – Store Services (Nights) to help ensure exceptional operational standards across our iconic Knightsbridge store—with a focus on Restaurants and Kitchens.

This is a hands-on leadership role within our Facilities function, where you’ll drive seamless overnight cleaning, hygiene operations, and team performance in close collaboration with the Store Services Manager.


About the Role

As Assistant Manager – Store Services (Nights), you’ll support the operation of Restaurants and Kitchens during night shifts, ensuring all cleaning, maintenance, and compliance tasks are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.

  • Reporting to the Store Services Manager, you’ll work on a 5 over 7 rota, including weekends, ensuring full operational cover.
  • You’ll lead and motivate a large team, adapt to fast-paced priorities, and maintain strict adherence to hygiene, housekeeping, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Key areas include people leadership, compliance, reactive task management, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will include (but is not limited to):

  • Ensuring optimum team cover at all times to meet operational requirements.
  • Managing routine, planned, and reactive cleaning tasks across the store.
  • Supporting stock, uniform, and equipment management to maintain operational supplies.
  • Enforcing sustainable waste management in line with Harrods’ sustainability commitments.
  • Promoting Health & Safety compliance at all times.
  • Delivering confident shift handovers, briefings, and training.
  • Managing conflict and resolving performance/conduct issues.
  • Leading, developing, and motivating the Store Services team to deliver outstanding standards.
  • Handling onboarding, probation, absence, and disciplinary matters in line with company policy.
  • Completing all necessary Workday tasks for direct reports.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring the following experience and attributes:

You will be an experienced, confident people leader with a proven track record in night-shift operations:

  • Proven experience leading and developing large teams in cleaning, facilities, or operational environments—specifically within restaurants and kitchens.
  • Strong expertise in hygiene, food safety, auditing, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Ability to manage performance, absence, conduct, and difficult conversations with composure.
  • Excellent at engaging, motivating, and inspiring teams to deliver their best.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and adaptability in communication.
  • Resilient, tenacious, and open to personal development.
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture.
  • Organised, adaptable, and capable of managing shifting priorities overnight.
