Cleaning Operative
Cleaning Operative | Permanent | Full Time
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Cleaning Operative to join SEFM Ltd, delivering high-quality cleaning services at Bournemouth & Poole College’s Poole campus. Working 37.5 hours per week on a permanent contract, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
As part of the Estates Team, you’ll contribute to a supportive and inclusive workplace that values respect, equality, and a shared passion for excellence. This role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness using sustainable practices.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering a “best in class” cleaning service across the College estate
- Following company procedures, including all health and safety requirements
- Cleaning a variety of areas including classrooms, offices, corridors, kitchens, toilets, and washrooms
- Carrying out waste removal and maintaining hygiene standards throughout
- Completing weekly deep cleans of designated areas
- Operating cleaning machinery such as carpet cleaners and hard floor equipment
- Ensuring all cleaning equipment is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition
- Working to a structured daily cleaning schedule and supporting wider team tasks as required

What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years’ experience in a cleaning role (experience in an education setting is desirable)
- Good knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemical use
- Understanding of health and safety practices
- A proactive, “can-do” attitude with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, adaptable, and committed to high standards
- Willingness to work evenings
- GCSEs (or equivalent) and/or **relevant cleaning training are desirable
