Cleaning Operative
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 17:00–20:00 (15 hours per week) Pay: £12.71 per hour Location: Percy Hedley – Hedleys School, West Lane, Killingworth, NE12 7BH Reporting to: Operations Manager
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced cleaner to join the site cleaning team in Killingworth.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out a range of cleaning tasks, safely and professionally, to a high standard. You must demonstrate:
- Good attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Flexibility to cover additional shifts as and when required
An enhanced DBS clearance is required prior to starting. If you have worked or lived overseas for more than 3 months in the last 10 years, a police check from that country will also be needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Clean designated areas to the agreed specification
- Empty waste bins, ensuring recycled waste is disposed of correctly
- Respond to spillages promptly to prevent accidents and maintain site safety
- Follow Health & Safety (H&S) and COSHH regulations
- Operate site-specific equipment and machinery, including the safe handling of chemicals
- Provide proactive customer service in interaction with on-site clients and customers
- Carry out any reasonable additional tasks requested by management
Requirements
- Working knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
- Precision and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to work independently with initiative
- Flexibility in shift coverage when required
- Reliability and responsibility with a flexible work approach
- Enhanced DBS clearance must be provided
- If applicable, a police check for any overseas work/life in the past 10 years
