Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated Cleaning Operative who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position is based in Edinburgh at Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre.
Salary: £25,029
Benefits:
- 15% Shift allowance
- £3,000 Location Allowance
- Permanent contract
Accountabilities
In this exciting role you will be responsible for cleaning Hitachi Rail customers rolling stock vehicles or/and TMC facilities to the highest possible standard in accordance with cleaning manuals. This is a permanent position working nights.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- To undertake general duties, which may vary in complexity, depending on the requirements.
- To carry out work within an agreed time frame.
- To ensure all work is carried out to the highest possible standard.
- To be responsible for completing all relevant records associated with work for which the post holder is responsible.
- Awareness of Health & Safety requirements and expected to attend relevant Health & Safety training courses.
- Required to complete and participate in Hitachi Rail centrally driven activities.
- To adhere to the Hitachi Rail Europe’s policies and procedures.
- To comply with and implement Hitachi Rail Health and Safety policy.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as per business requirement.

Required Skills/ Knowledge
- You will need to pass a local track safety test and a drink and drugs test to be able to work safety, within the TMC environment.
- Would like to be part of a growing team, who work together to provide a fantastic onsite service.
- A willingness to learn new things whilst taking pride in their work.
- Due to Health and Safety reasons, you need a good understanding of English with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Commitment to working as part of a team in a respectful and professional manner.
- An understanding of Health and Safety requirements of a working environment.
- To be aware of and actively promote and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.
Desired Skills/ Knowledge
- At least 1 year’s experience in cleaning, ideally within a similar environment but not essential as full training is given.
- BICS training.
- Previous Health and Safety awareness training.
