Cleaning Operative
Purpose of the Role
Cleaning operatives are responsible for ensuring that the centre, car park, and offices remain clean and free of rubbish, litter, and spillages. All surfaces must be visibly clean, and operatives must adhere to site Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Daily operation of all ride-on cleaning machines, including maintaining cleanliness across the site and conducting daily maintenance of equipment.
Key Responsibilities
To carry out all allocated cleaning tasks according to site specifications, including:
- Removing refuse from waste bins and preventing overflow
- Clearing all food and liquid spillages promptly
- Cleaning internal, external, and public areas within the centre and car park
- Removing black marks and other stains from walls
- Removing dust and debris from mats and carpets via vacuuming and machine washing
- Dusting all accessible surfaces
- Machine scrubbing floors in stairwells
- Machine scrubbing external floor areas when necessary
- Jet-washing external areas as required
- Using appropriate equipment for each cleaning task
- Completing additional tasks as directed by the line manager
- Maintaining daily cleanliness and stocking of public/office and staff toilets
- Operating ride-on road sweepers and cleaning machines

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Candidates are expected to:
- Have experience providing cleaning services in a busy, public-facing environment
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Operate independently and manage demanding situations
- Display an honest and reliable work ethic
- Maintain a neat appearance
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Be flexible working both indoors and outdoors
- Welcome further onsite training
- Follow a flexible working schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Hold a valid driving licence

Working Details
- Hours: 20 per week, Monday to Sunday (day shifts)
- Salary: £13.50 per hour
