About the Role
The post holder is required to carry out Cleanliness Monitoring across all sites of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, in line with the 51 elements specified in the National Standards for Healthcare Cleanliness in the NHS.
The role involves:
- Conducting monthly audits for nursing, domestic, and estates departments.
- Entering data into software to determine pass/fail results.
- Presenting scores to area managers for actions or assurance.
The post holder will also assist with other audits, including:
- Annual Patient Led Assessments of Care Environment (PLACE)
- Trust-led patient environment inspections
Additionally, they will manage the administration of these audits, including:
- Downloading, producing, and monitoring action plans
- Feeding back to relevant systems

Key Responsibilities
Cleanliness Monitoring
- Conduct monthly cleanliness audits across all hospital sites, using the Cleanliness Monitoring software.
- Work with ward management teams during audits to collect data.
- Input audit findings, identifying any failures, their causes, and recommended actions.
- Ensure continuously updated software reflects current compliance status across all sites.
- Liaise with:
- Area Managers
- Cleanliness Managers
- Estates Managers to ensure urgent issues are addressed.
Audit Facilitation
- Assist in arranging and facilitating the Annual Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE).
- Act as scribe during assessments.
Action Planning & Feedback
- Create and manage action plans resulting from PLACE audits.
- Monitor progress and ensure compliance with required standards.
