Location: Maple Hayes Hall School, Lichfield Hours:
- Main Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 am – 5:00 pm
- Prize Giving Day: Must attend
- School Holidays: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (shared basis with office staff)
About the Role
Maple Hayes Hall School is a small specialist school for pupils aged 7-17 diagnosed with dyslexia. We are seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic and flexible Clerical Assistant/Secretary to provide vital administrative support to the School Manager and Headteacher.
This role sits at the heart of school operations, as the first point of contact for pupils, staff, parents and external agencies. You will be an essential part of a dedicated and experienced team, helping create a smooth-running environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontline Reception Duties:
- Provide in-person and telephone reception services.
- Administrative Support:
- Undertake a wide range of tasks as directed by the School Manager and Headteacher.
- Handle word processing (letters, reports, meeting minutes, etc.).
- Manage Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) annual review meetings.
- Return updated paperwork to the Local Authority per deadlines.
- Records & Filing:
- Maintain, update and file correspondence, admin systems, and student records.
- Oversee the student database and attendance registers.
- Communication & Liaison:
- Compile and distribute meeting minutes.
- Liaise with parents, students and external agencies.
- First Aid Duties:
- Ensure first aid vigilance as part of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Workload & Team Collaboration:
- Organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Work effectively with team members and independently.
- Miscellaneous:
- Undertake any additional tasks to support the smooth running of the school.

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £22,000 – £28,000 per annum
- Holiday Entitlement: 28 days per annum
Requirements
- Desirable Experience:
- Knowledge of school compliance and compliance software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
- Familiarity with SIMS (school administration system).
- Essential Qualities:
- Excellent organisation, multitasking and communication skills.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to the demands of a small but busy environment.
- Keen to make a difference in working with young people affected by dyslexia.
