The Role
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Clerical Officer to join our Pharmacy Services team at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. This is a meaningful opportunity within a patient-focused, high-pressure environment. You will help ensure a seamless, safe, and efficient pharmacy service across the region, assisting both patients and clinical teams. As part of NHSGGC, you’ll contribute directly to precision healthcare, playing a key role in cancer treatment support.

⚠ Visa Note: Band 2 roles are not eligible for Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa sponsorship. All other roles will be assessed based on Home Office requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a professional and welcoming reception service, managing prescriptions, including:
- Identification, prioritisation, and handling patient queries
- Verifying and processing handwritten, electronic, and clinical trial prescriptions with proper authorisation
- Support the community supply service by:
- Checking prescriptions on Chemocare for accuracy
- Ensuring accurate transcription before distribution
- Coordinate hospital transport delivery services, including:
- Scheduling delivery times
- Liaising with transport teams to meet patient needs
- Maintain and update patient information via systems such as:
- Trackcare and Excel spreadsheets
- Respond to patient enquiries regarding prescriptions and medication collection, demonstrating professionalism and compassion
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), local policies, and executive protocols while working efficiently in a high-pressure environment

Requirements
Essential:
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills, including:
- English and Maths qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage empathetically with patients, healthcare staff, and colleagues
- Ability to organise, prioritise workloads, and work under pressure using strong initiative and time-management
- Competence in Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel, plus general IT skills
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to follow SOPs precisely and demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and development
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience within a healthcare, pharmacy, or administrative environment
- Familiarity with healthcare software or specialist documentation
