Clerk to Board of Trustees for an organisation that enables kidney transplantation in low- and middle-income countries.

What difference will you make?

You will be contributing to the effectiveness of a charity that seeks to provide life saving treatment for individuals with kidney failure in low and middle income countries. You will work with the Chair, CEO and team of trustees to help ensure the charity achieves its goals of training and mentoring doctors and surgeons in order to help people with kidney failure, and to ensure the smooth running and organisation of the board.

What are we looking for?

Skills Required

The volunteer needs at least 3 years experience in an organisational/administrative role supporting an organisation or team in achieving their goals. They need to have skills in organising meetings, diaries, agendas, coordinating input to documents and writing minutes.

Previous experience in the charity sector is not essential but preferred. If not, the candidate will need to familiarise themselves with the roles of trustees and requirements of the charity commission (available online).

The candidate needs to have experience of Google Shared Drive, Word and Excel, and be able to attend meetings on Teams. We strive to be as paperless as possible. The use of AI for taking and producing minutes is present practice.

Flexibility, integrity, good personal and communication skills will be essential.

THE ORGANISATION

Transplant Links is a charitable organisation registered with the Charity Commission. It links NHS volunteer kidney specialists from the NHS with kidney specialists in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) who wish to improve the lives of their patients with kidney failure. Transplant Links does this by supporting the development of ethical and sustainable kidney transplant services in LMICs through the transfer of knowledge and experience (see website for more detail).

THE POST

Position and responsibilities

Clerk to the Board of Trustees. Reports to Chair of Trustees. Arrange 4 Trustee Board meetings a year.

Liaise with Chair and CEO to

Prepare and issue agendas Prepare and issue documents for meetings Take minutes, provide Chair with draft minutes and circulate final document, file document using the charity filing system (e.g. OneDrive, GoogleDrive) Support the Board of Trustees in following up actions and ideas arising from Trustee meetings

Trustee meetings are in the evening, 2 in person and 2 online via Microsoft Teams.

The clerk will work with the trustees who are a dynamic, friendly group of doctors, an HR specialist and an accountant committed to the work of TLC.
