I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About The Role
The role of Client Care Advisor in Vets for Pets Newtownards is one of the most important in our team. Our current team of three Client Care Advisors are responsible for the debt management of the practice, organising staff rotas, creating social media content, banking, handling of pet insurance claims, organising the diary, collecting payments, maintaining stock levels, booking appointments and operations as well as managing our busy phone lines. As a maternity cover role you would be expected to help in all of these areas as well as add to our wonderful, growing, workplace culture.
We are looking for a candidate with some experience of working as a veterinary client care advisor or someone who has worked in a very public facing job before. This is a 12 month contract ideally starting in August 2026 for around 15 hours a week with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota from 8.30am-12 pm. We require someone who is flexible to work evenings until 7pm.
The salary for this role is negotiable depending on experience.
Given the growing nature of the practice it is likely there will be an opportunity to continue on in the practice after the maternity role is completed.
