Role Summary
This Client Development Manager role (x2) is a pioneering account management function—separating client operations from sales—with a focus on long-term client success.
You’ll:
- Own a portfolio of existing clients, acting as their dedicated point of contact and project manager.
- Prioritise relationship building, service delivery, and client satisfaction.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality R&D Tax Relief claims, submissions, and ongoing support—while proactively managing client needs without direct sales pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Service Delivery
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients, fostering trust-based relationships.
- Proactively manage client expectations, conducting regular check-ins, and escalating complex issues to technical specialists as needed.
- Monitor client satisfaction, track interaction history, and document updates in the CRM system.

Project & Portfolio Management
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, coordinating internal teams to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant R&D Tax Relief services.
- Proactively identify secondary support opportunities (without sales pressure) through developing a deep understanding of clients’ needs.
Process & Culture Development
- Shape best practices for the new account management function, leveraging your experience as one of the first hires.
- Contribute to client retention strategies, ensuring strong onboarding, execution, and follow-through for long-term partnerships.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in an Account Manager, Client Manager, or equivalent client-facing role in:
- R&D, tax advisory, or professional services
- Proven track record in managing client portfolios, maintaining relationships, and being the primary point of contact.
- Confidence in proactive outreach (phone/email) and strategic relationship management tactics.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, resolve conflicts professionally, and advocate for clients.
- Strong organisational skills, project management, and ability to work independently to meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
- Initiative towards process improvement in a new/conceptual function.
- Experience in a B2B/professional services environment with a focus on client service excellence.
- A valid UK driving licence.
