Function: Distribution Department: Distribution Client Director – Hedge Funds Function: Distribution Department: Distribution Alternatives Purpose To lead capital raising and investor relationship management for GAM’s hedge fund strategies, with primary responsibility for Europe and the UK. The role will focus on developing and executing a targeted fundraising strategy, developing new investor relationships and deepening existing ones, working in close partnership with Portfolio Managers, Product Specialists and the broader GAM distribution platform. Main Duties & Responsibilities Capital Raising & Client Coverage Originate and execute fundraising for hedge fund strategies, including single‑manager funds and managed accounts. Build and manage senior‑level relationships with hedge fund allocators in the UK and Europe working closely and in co ordination with GAM’s geographic sales teams. Develop and maintain a clearly articulated regional business plan with defined fundraising objectives and account priorities. Lead and coordinate investor meetings, due diligence sessions, portfolio manager roadshows and follow‑up engagement with hedge fund allocators. Product & Strategy Representation Act as a senior product ambassador for assigned hedge fund strategies, with the ability to speak credibly and fluently about investment philosophy, risk management, portfolio construction and performance. Work closely with portfolio managers to position strategies effectively and ensure messaging is coherent, differentiated and market‑relevant. Support the structuring and negotiation of managed accounts, SMAs and co‑investment opportunities in collaboration with legal, operations and portfolio management teams. Internal Collaboration Partner closely with GAM’s broader European sales teams to coordinate investor coverage, avoid overlap and leverage existing relationships. Contribute to the development of marketing materials, pitch books, DDQs and investor communications, ensuring accuracy and consistency to support hedge fund sales. Provide regular market intelligence and investor feedback to Alternatives leadership, helping inform product development and strategic priorities. External Relationships Maintain strong working relationships with key industry stakeholders including prime brokers and capital introduction teams. Represent GAM and its hedge fund capabilities at relevant industry conferences, forums and investor events across Europe. Qualifications & Experience Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in Hedge fund or alternative investment sales. Client Relationships: A well-established network of hedge fund allocators in UK, Europe, Middle East, ASIA, USA. Proven ability to develop and manage complex relationships with high-profile clients. Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of hedge fund structures and alternative investment strategies. Ability to articulate these strategies within the context of client portfolios. Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations pertaining to alternative investments and experience in navigating complex regulatory environments. Educational Background: CFA, CAIA, or equivalent professional designations are highly desirable. Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; other European language would advantage. Personal Attributes Highly credible with sophisticated investors and able to engage at CIO / investment committee level. Commercially driven, self‑starting and comfortable operating in a performance‑oriented, entrepreneurial environment. Strong relationship‑building skills and the resilience required for long sales cycles. Clear, structured communicator with the ability to translate complex investment concepts into compelling investor messaging.
