About The Role
We are seeking experienced Data Engineers who can combine strong technical expertise with exceptional client-facing skills. You will design, implement, and maintain sophisticated data lakehouses whilst effectively communicating complex technical concepts to stakeholders. This role demands both engineering excellence and outstanding interpersonal abilities.
The Responsibilities We’ll Trust You With
- Designing and architecturing data lakehouse solutions using AWS cloud services (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lake Formation)
- Implementing robust data governance frameworks with particular attention to PII (Personally Identifiable Information) protection and regulatory compliance
- Managing data residency and territorial integrity requirements, ensuring data remains compliant with regional regulations (GDPR, local data protection laws)
- Serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients, explaining data architecture decisions, security measures, and implementation timelines in clear, non-technical language
- Managing client stakeholder relationships, from C-suite executives to technical teams, whilst maintaining project schedules and expectations
- Building and maintaining data pipelines with strong emphasis on data quality, security, and compliance standards
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including data analysts, security officers, and legal advisors to ensure holistic solutions

Your areas of knowledge and expertise
- Proven experience designing and implementing data lakehouse architectures (Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Flink, or similar technologies)
- Strong, hands-on AWS cloud experience including services such as S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena, and Redshift
- Demonstrated expertise in PII data management, including encryption, masking, and access control mechanisms
- Experience building and maintaining ML feature stores or production ML pipelines
- Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment on AWS
- Knowledge of territorial data residency requirements and compliance frameworks (GDPR, local data localization laws)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Experience working directly with clients or internal stakeholders in a consultative capacity
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Scala or similar for data engineering tasks
- Strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and their practical implementation
- Open mind and a natural curiosity for new technologies
- Excellent knowledge of English with first-rate verbal and written communication skills
- Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable Qualifications
- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect Associate or Professional, Data Analytics Specialty, AI or related credentials)
- Experience with data governance tools and metadata management platforms
- Experience delivering data solutions to enterprise clients
- Experience in the Telco & Media industry
- Experience building and Experience with generative AI tools and LLM applications in data contexts
- Understanding of responsible AI principles and ethical AI governance
