Hey! π
We're Flexal, an AI-native accounting firm running the finance function for some of the UK's coolest startups.
Our clients span the whole startup journey: bootstrapped, seed-stage, and scaling VC-backed companies. We power the finance function behind startups backed by Index Ventures, General Catalyst, Entrepreneur First and many other top tier VCs π₯
Our model is simple: partner with clients and give them the best possible experience, whilst building our own AI powered systems to automate as much of the day to day work as possible.
We're growing rapidly and are looking for an ambitious, sharp and qualified accountant to join our team. You won't be a small cog in this role: you'll be the primary point of contact for a growing portfolio of clients, responsible for our high quality bar, and the person who makes sure every client gets outstanding service. You'll work directly with the co-founders and shape how the firm scales.
π Summary of the role
Role: Client Finance Manager
Salary: Β£45,000 β Β£55,000, depending on experience
Location: Remote (UK), with the ability to come to London or Cambridge every now and then
β¨ What You'll Do
-
Own client relationships. Be the first point of contact for your portfolio. Handle the day-to-day queries - from routine questions to the open-ended ones with no playbook, where you research, form a view, and advise (with the support of others in the team when needed!)
-
Own the numbers. Take ownership of year-end accounts, corporation tax returns and management reporting across your portfolio. You'll work with our tech, bookkeepers and specialists - reviewing their work before it reaches clients and rolling your sleeves up when needed. What goes out the door is on time, correct, and yours.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

-
Run client onboarding. Lead new clients into your portfolio through excellent onboarding, making sure we impress from day 1. Get them set up on our side, get the processes functioning and pre-empt any questions to make sure we make a strong first impression.
-
Manage workflow and deadlines. Own the deadlines for your portfolio and the rhythm of delivery, working with clients and our own team so nothing slips and nobody needs chasing twice.
-
Improve how we work. Our processes are good; but we always strive to make them better. Champion technology and automation - spot where AI and other tooling can remove low-value work, improve accuracy, and feed improvements back into our systems so the firm scales efficiently.
-
Grow with us. This is our second full time hire. You're not joining a slow-growing, 50 year old practice. You're joining a fast growing firm with big ambitions - it will be hard at times, but you'll grow 100x the amount you would at almost any other firm β‘οΈ
